Obviously, if you're driving a hummer, a semi, or a bus, it's going to be a bit problematic to accomplish such a task, but if you're using a Volkswagen Beetle, a Mini Cooper, or any one of the smaller cars in Midtown Madness 3, then it's not quite as difficult. In one situation, you'll have to navigate in between the pillars of the Jefferson Memorial to gain access to the rotunda and the power-up located just at the base of Jefferson's statue.

In the cruise mode you essentially have free rein over the city and can drive to any accessible spot on the map, but while you're tearing around the city, you'll want to keep an eye out for power-ups that can be used to strengthen the individual abilities of your car. In fact, Paris alone is approximately the size of the London and San Francisco maps from Midtown Madness 2 combined, so you'll have plenty of areas to explore within both cities, especially in the cruise mode.

Like Midtown Madness 2, the third game in the series will feature two different cities, Washington DC and Paris, both of which have been modeled closely after their real-life counterparts and are generally much large than the environments in Midtown Madness 2. Blitzīlitz mode is very much like a time trial race. Either city can be chosen in undercover mode and different missions will be available in each one.
The player starts out with a low class of vehicle and job and works up to the high class. In Undercover mode the player works as an undercover police officer doing various races to uncover a plot. Undercover mode is the mission based career mode in Midtown Madness 3. All of these modes can be played in either Paris or Washington D.C.
Single player consists of four different play modes. For most of the races there is no set path to complete it in as long as all of the various checkpoints have been hit. Midtown Madness 3 has 34 cars in total (two secret) for the player to use. There are also Xbox Live features which are now defunct as the service for the original Xbox has been disabled. Midtown Madness 3 is an open city racing game and has multiple modes across single player and multiplayer. The game is currently not backwards compatible on the Xbox 360.
